DARREN CARL BALMFORTH aka BARNEY xxxxxxxxx BRAVE TIL THE END. xxxxxxxxxxx
Darren was sadly taken away from us on the 18th october 2008 after a short battle
with cancer he passed away peacefully surrounded by family at st.gemmas hospice.Darren was diagnosed
with cancer in April 2008 after going to casualty, which was a big shock as he was a healthy young
man. We married in the H.D.U in St James hospital in April as he was ill and the doctors told us if
Darren went into Cardiac arrest, they wouldn't be able to revive him.Darren had a course of
chemotherapy to prolong his life, but sadly he lost his brave fight for life after just six months.
Darren loved playing computer games and listening to music especially Oasis and Ian brown. He was a
fan of The Sopranos .Darren played golf with our son . Darren was a big Leeds United fan ,he went to
matches with our son when he could. We always said we would grow old together, but sadly how wrong we
were,in time we will be together again.Darren and I got together 12 years ago after disasterous
relationships,i had given up,but then i met Darren and its true there is your perfect soulmate out
there and I had found it in Darren,we were constantly by each others side, only twice when i went
abroad with the kids and Darren wouldn,t get on a plane,I jokingly called him Mr T (I aint getting
on no plane)lol, but both times i was away all i could do was miss him, i wasn,t homesick,i was
Darren sick.Darren was the funniest person i have ever met,he had me in stitches all the time.I have
never met a better person than Darren,he was genuinely a nice person which nobody could ever say a
bad word about him.I can,t believe Darren has been taken away from me,my heart is ripped to pieces.I
want to thank you for coming into my life, which should of been forever, but what time we had together
is precious and full of happy memories and thankyou for taking the kids as your own you'll always be
daddy to them. I love you Darren with all my heart, always have and always will.Until we are together
again, you'll never be off my mind.Love your wife Carla xxxxxxxx

DARREN BALMFORTH My darling Darren,
Since you’ve gone first and I remain,
To walk the road alone,
I live in memory’s garden, Dear,
With happy days we’ve known.
Since you’ve gone first and I remain,
One thing I’d have you do,
Walk slowly down the path of death,
For soon I’ll follow you.
I want to know each step you take,
That I may know the same,
For some day, down that lonely, road,
You’ll hear me call your name.
Your loving wife, Carla
